Patricia Newman’s Giant Rays of Hope tells the story of Planeta Oceano’s founder, Kerstin Forsberg. It showcases Kerstin’s early love for the ocean and her transformational work to save giant manta rays off the coast of Peru. Thanks to the unique conservation approach Planeta Oceano takes, manta rays have become a symbol of hope for Peruvians across the Northern regions of the country.
Our organization works with local leaders, schools and fisherman of the Tumbes region to help create a sustainable approach to conservation. We seek the opinions of local fishers and work with them to combat poaching, overfishing and bycatch.
